YARN:
Garthenor Organic Number 3 – Organic 100% Shetland wool, 50 g – 115 m / 126 yards
Fingerless mittens sample in size 1 is made with col. Boulder
Fill size mittens sample in size 2 is made with col. Smoke
SIZES AND MEASUREMENTS:
1 (2) 3 equivalent to 38 (42) 46 sts for palm circumference of 17.5 (19) 21 cm / 7 (7.5) 8.5 inches
YARN SUBSTITUTION:
DK weight yarn to achieve gauge. I would recommend using ‘toothy’ yarn with high content of wool or other grippy fibers (such as brushed alpaca or mohair), rather than smooth and slippery yarn
YARDAGE:
For fingerless mittens: 105 (120) 140 meters / 115 (131) 153 yards
For full size mittens:134 (145) 173 meters / 147 (159) 189 yards
Please note that your yarn consumption will depend on your yarn choice, gauge, the size of your finished mittens and any other alterations you might make to the pattern
GAUGE:
22 sts / 36 rows per 10 cm / 4 inches in stockinette stitch in the round after washing and light blocking
NEEEDLES:
Size A - 3 mm (US 2.5) circular needle for ribbing
Size B - 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles
Please note that needle size is just a suggestion, you might need to change the size of your needles to achieve gauge
NOTIONS:
Tapestry needle, crochet hook (optional), measuring tape, 2 stitch markers, incl. a clip-on marker or progress keeper, row counter, scissors, waste yarn (for tubular cast on and holding thumb sts)
